The new year is soon approaching, and it’s as good of a time as any to check in with your home and make sure it’s the best environment for you to thrive in.
But what kind of concepts should we be tapping into in 2025?
Well, to Mieux Design, it’s all about integrating technology in our homes, leveraging it to improve our daily lives.
Accomplishing precision with technology
Based in Selangor, Mieux Design is a luxury interior design studio. Its name references the French word for “the best”, a descriptor that underpins what it seeks to offer clients.

The design firm operates on the belief that great design comes down to not just details, but also precision. This focus, perhaps, has informed the team’s design outlook and philosophy.
Speaking to furnished.my is Sheila.C, the creative director of the luxury design firm.

“From my perspective, 2025 will be more on technology, combined together with interior design styles to be integrated into a space,” she determined. “For example, smart house and lighting systems that can create a luxurious vibe or experience.”

IoT (Internet of Things) products have long been popular in home design, but with the advent of things like AI, smart homes have become smarter than ever.
However, there are more affordable ways you can integrate smart systems into your home. From smart locks to switches, there are small things you can incorporate at a reasonable price tag to improve your day-to-day life.

For instance, homegrown company Pensonic has a suite of smart home products under their brand, Toush. Things like smart air purifiers and doorbells comprise this range.
Brands like Philips Hue, Tapo, and Orvibo also have a lot of smart lighting systems that can not only make your home more tech-enabled, but also more energy efficient.
Putting health on a pedestal
Design doesn’t just happen in a vacuum—it’s reflective of human behaviour and desires.
Especially with the pandemic, society has become a lot more educated and aware of our own health, and this awareness is something that has culminated in the way that we design our homes, too.
Technology always advancing, same goes to design materials.
With that in mind, Sheila believes that 2025 will see the incorporation of materials that speak to our safety and health.

“For example, nowadays cabinets are promoting zero formaldehyde status, referring to E0 grade,” she explained.
“We also noticed that Dyson products are also promoting the same formaldehyde filter fan to remove strong odours and hazardous chemicals that can cause cancer.”
For one, there’s the Dyson Purifier Cool™ Formaldehyde air purifier. Products like Dyson’s will likely continue to be popular in the coming years, considering that they tend to boast high functionality, while still offering beautiful designs.
Prioritising people first
At the end of the day, interior design isn’t only supposed to look good to the eyes—it’s about how it interacts with the people who inhabit the space.
“No matter how advanced or forward-looking the trends are, it is always my philosophy to design mainly people-oriented spaces,” Sheila concluded.
